This morning I awoke to 12 new vegan followers. Presumably auto-following me based on keyword searches.

I’m currently debating myself on whether i should troll them with a “hey, thanks for the follow - how’d you find the article?”

Every year, they have a song-off and try to outvote each other till there are ten left in the finals. I see part of my issue is explaining myself - I am asking about my writing - topics, style, content and any other aspects. The posts I am talking about I have always (cross)posted here as well. I only mentioned Medium because it tends to clearly show up the disparity between readers and those who like it enough to tell others about it. My questions are not in regards to that platform, they are:

Think about what it is that makes you star/heart/like something and
Think about what it is that makes you recommend/reblog/link to something
Is there anything about my work that does not lend itself to either of those things?
If so, what is it (i.e. can I fix it?)
If not - then I may just be boring. That’s ok too.

NB: Not a pity-party gimme love shameless request for attention (this time)

So, it’s been a thing that has sort of played on my mind in regards to a number of my blogs, pieces and interactions … I get a lot of (non bot) and oft interactive followers and readers. I even get a steady stream of people revisiting many things I write and sometimes even referencing them (based on google analytics) … but I feel like something is missing.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean “where’s my stars” or “why no praises” I mean, I feel like people are almost saying “yeah, that’s good - but meh”.

Medium.com highlights this to me in the way the stats are presented - showing me that I get a very good clickthrough and read ratio … but not a single recommendation.

That seems to repeat my previous assertion that there is something missing in my writing.

What I’m trying to figure out is what? What’s missing? Do I leave room for discourse or do I create a space of finality?

Or put another way, how can I improve it?
